The Toddler Community at The Children's Montessori House in Castries welcomes children from 18 months, at the age when independence first becomes a driving force. This is not a scaled-down version of Casa. It is its own carefully considered environment, built around the specific needs of a toddler: movement, language, and the deep satisfaction of doing things for oneself.
Where Casa/Primary leans into structured academic work, the Toddler Community is grounded in practical life and sensory experience. Children pour, wash, dress themselves, and care for their own space, building the coordination and confidence that later academic learning depends on. Guides observe closely and offer just enough support to let a child succeed on their own terms.
The result is a classroom where toddlers move with purpose rather than wander. They are trusted with real tasks and real materials, and they rise to meet that trust.
Toddlers are immersed in rich, real language throughout the day. Guides speak to children with the same respect and clarity they would use with an adult, naming objects and actions precisely to build a strong early vocabulary.
From pouring water to climbing steps designed for small legs, every part of the environment invites movement. Toddlers refine both gross motor skills and the fine motor control that will later support writing and drawing.
Simple, real tasks like washing a table or buttoning a shirt give toddlers a genuine sense of accomplishment. These activities are not busywork. They are how a toddler learns to care for themselves and their environment.
